You, I See

I don't have the words for how I feel.
I look out the window, I sip
my poison--it burns, all the way
to my soul. I sigh, light a stick,
blow my heart out in rings, rings,
into the darkness. I sip my poison,
hang my head, and sigh. A beautiful
woman joins me. She kisses a bottle,
a soda, she pulls out a stick,
sticks it in her lips; she lights, puffs,
blowing rings, rings. She swings
her beautiful neck this way,
That way, and shuts her beautiful
eyes to the world outside the window.
She sighs, she rubs her temple
and kisses the bottle, the soda.
I don't have the words for how I feel,
as we look at each other, unblinking,
as I sip from mine and her from hers,
as I blow rings, rings, and watch her go.
It is not her my soul bleeds for--
it's who I see when I look at her.
