I want to believe
We thought it wise to choose among us
to keep guard over our interests.
But we, humans, are complexities!
it became clear when our choices
robbed us our voices.
See, we called, and our chief guard ignored.
We cried, and our chosen one only listened,
only stood, watching.
We yelled, and our sunshine grew dark.
In the light of day, we lost possessions, property,
of old and the new (but oh, the old!)
We thought the darkness had something
to do with it.
And our interests?
The darkness would never grab those!
Yet, by daylight,
they lived only in memory.
We lost lives, we lost families, and relatives,
communities, we lost society
when our intellectual, our chosen one
became the corruption.
We lost the sense of justice,
we lost the pride of belonging,
we lost the hope for change,
for change had shown us things.
