I want to have lived,
and shared
the most we could,
you and I.
I want to have drunk
to the things we couldn’t figure out,
and to have danced
to the losses we counted.
With our lips in each other,
our hearts drumming,
and our hands in each other,
I want to have let go
of everything that, for eternity,
held me back, held me down,
and to have felt
every last beat of love,
and thus, to have lived.
I look at you, many times,
and I smile, thinking:
ah, I have lived.
Every sunrise shared,
is a blessing more.
And so, with gratitude,
we make the most of our seconds.
