Over innocent territory, spilled innocent blood.
“She was not so innocent,” Mama thinks
And the hate spreads from Mary to the rich man,
From the rich man to his little daughter.
Mary does not learn her lesson, yet, no time yet;
No time to act, yet, but to act innocent
“O’, my God! What just happened?”
Mama volunteers as the first witness.
She is questioned by Mary’s husband;
Mary’s husband, with a badge and a gun
And all she knows is her rich man’s clothes,
She knows his daughter, but only so.
She gets away, a way, a way…
