Scrub, hum, smile; yammer, yammer, yammer.
Scrub, hum, frown; yammer, yammer, yammer.
The girl, the little girl
Dressed in expensive clothes and expensive looks—
The rich man’s daughter, Mama’s rich man.
Mary entertains the other women; yammer, yammer
Mama smiles, frowns, participates and hums, hums.
The rich man’s daughter passes by;
She is looking sad, perhaps in thought, or not.
“If you could fall,” thinks Mama, “break your neck,”
And the little girl, o’, poor thing; she slips,
She falls, down the stairs and down, breaks her neck.
Watch out for the next part!
